University Dormitories

The university established dormitories to provide students with a good living and studying environment and to contribute to a fulfilling student lifestyle through community living. Keyaki Dormitory buildings 1 to 3 were built on land adjacent to the Koganei Campus between 1966 and 1967. Building 0 (now the Sakura Dorm) of the Keyaki Dormitory was built in 1972, and the Kaede Dormitory (a women¡¯s dorm) was built on land adjacent to the Fuchu Campus in 1986. Over forty years after it was built, the Keyaki Dormitory had aged to the point where the university stopped accepting applications for new residents for it in September 2007. The dormitory was subsequently fully renovated and reopened in March 2010.
This included the creation of the new 200-room Keyaki Dormitory for men and the 18-room Sakura Dormitory for women. The Hinoki Dormitory¡ªwith 75 rooms for men on the first to third floors and 36 rooms for women on the fourth and fifth floors¡ªwas completed on land adjacent to the Fuchu Campus in August 2016. Students are encouraged to apply for residency in the dorms.

The university manages and maintains the dormitory. The dorm is a place of communal living, so there are many rules that residents must follow. We ask all residents to follow the rules while doing their best to make dormitory living comfortable.

Management: Managed by an association of the dorm¡¯s residents Please follow the rules set by the association. Please also communicate with other dormitory residents and participate in events and other activities the association organizes.

Message from the Dormitory President
Kaede Dormitory residents manage the dormitory themselves as an association. The association holds many fun events, such as a welcome party for new residents, a dormitory festival, a construction anniversary festival, and a farewell party for graduates. Since it is a self-managed dormitory, residents take turns cleaning, participate in dorm meetings, and serve on management committees. Group living has its challenges, but residents build bonds that transcend departments and years at the university and live exciting lives together.
